Caribbean Hold’em Poker

Caribbean Hold’em Poker is one of the newest online casino table games. It is becoming very popular because it is a game of skill where the player needs to make decisions and it offers high payouts including a progressive jackpot. Caribbean Hold’em is similar to Caribbean Stud Poker. In the Hold’em version you play against the casino using community cards instead of the normal stud version. The game is played using a standard 52-card deck. Both the player and the dealer make their best hand possible using both their two hole cards and the five community cards.

Before the game begins the player must make an ante bet. The dealer will then deal two cards face up to each player, two cards face down to the dealer and three community cards face up. These three cards are known as the flop. Each player then has the option to either fold their hand and surrender their ante or place a call bet twice the size of their ante bet. If there are any players two more community cards are dealt face up. These cards are known as the turn and the river cards. The hands are then compared. The object is to have a better five card poker hand than the dealer. The dealer must have at least a pair of fours for their hand to qualify. If the dealers hand does not qualify the player wins on the ante bet and the call bet is returned. The ante bet is paid out as follows:

Royal Flush pays 100 to 1

Straight Flush pays 20 to 1

Four of a Kind pays 10 to 1

Full House pays 3 to 1

Flush Pays 2 to 1

Straight and below pays 1 to 1

If the dealers hand qualifies and the dealers hand is better than the players hand the dealer wins and the player loses all bets. If the dealers hand qualifies and loses to the player, the player wins even money on the call bet and the ante bet pays based on the payout table. If the dealer and player end up with identical hands both the call and ante bets are a push and the player gets their money back.

Caribbean Hold 'Em also offers a progressive jackpot where an additional $1 bet makes you eligible to win part or the entire jackpot. The payout depends on the rank of the poker hand. Caribbean Hold 'Em progressive payouts are based on a five-card poker hand that is made using your two cards and the first three community cards. To be eligible for the progressive jackpot, click the coin slot before clicking Deal at an online casino or simply place a $1 chip in the progressive spot at a casino table. These jackpots can become sizeable especially when the game is linked between several casinos. Progressive bets are generally low percentage plays. This is also the case n Caribbean Hold’em. The house edge in Caribbean Hold’em is about 2%, but the house edge on the progressive is closer to 10%.
